Stylish Dog Couture from Ware of the Dog

Okay, okay… maybe it’s MY pick but honestly, what dog could say no to wearing THAT adorable sweater by Ware of the Dog?! Shoot, I’d wear it if I could!

I first came across Ware of the Dog‘s adorable brand on Barneys New York and was blown away by the colors, quality, and general adorable-ness of their products. They’re exactly what Canines & Couture is all about!

Rufus’ 4th birthday is coming up in July. I think I’ve already lined up one of “his” gifts. ;)

Check out the rest of Ware of the Dog’s collection here (they also have collars and leads!).

I’m on my way to Scottsdale, AZ this morning for work! Wish me safe travels and don’t worry, The Smoosh is in good hands; he’s visiting his grandparents this month while I travel a bit.

Vintage Gold Sequins Blouse

vintage-gold-and-sequins-blouse-top

Hi there, Lovelies. How was your weekend? Hope you did something fabulous. My weekend was filled with lots of fun and productive things, including my continued exploration and practice with Photoshop. I had the perfect opportunity to really dig in with all of my gorgeous photos from my shoot with Qiqi from Perception Matters Photography.

Remember when I told you about the vintage gold sequins blouse my mom bought for me in New Orleans as part of my birthday loot? I’ve been completely obsessed with it ever since and I put it to good use for this photo shoot. Qiqi did a great job of capturing the details; the gold and sequins really pop, which I LOVE. I’m sure you’ve gathered by now that I’m all about the gold. ;)

I was immediately drawn to this blouse when I saw it on the rack at The Revival Outpost in the French Quarter. I’m almost always drawn to the most intimidating item on the rack, which is great for me because most people avoid those items. One of my favorite aspects of this top is the finger-like details at the waist. They’re so unique and fun.

One of the highlights of working on Chestnut Street in the Marina is that there’s a ton of cute little shops to wander into. Rufus kept darting into this adorable pet shop called Catnip and Bones (he must have smelled all of those treats). As you can see from the photo of Rufus above, the owner was quite taken by him. He sure does love a good butt scratch.

Please check out more of the talented Qiqi’s work on her website, Perception Matters Photograhy and show her some “like” love on her Facebook page.

Sneak Preview of Photo Shoot with Perception Matters

womens-fashion-perception-matters-photography

A couple of weeks ago The Smoosh and I had a really playful and fun photo shoot with the uber talented, Qiqi Huang from Perception Matters. The photos are in (!) and I couldn’t be more excited to share the finished product with you. They’re absolutely gorgeous.

Today is my second day at BlogShop San Francisco’s Photoshop class and  I have to say, it’s already been so informative and fun. I highly recommend it for those of you who are waffling on whether it’s worth it. I guarantee you, IT IS worth it if you have little (or no experience like me) experience with Photoshop.

Naturally, I’m a little tied up at the moment with all things Photoshop but I couldn’t resist giving you all just a little preview of what’s to come because we think Qiqi is the cat’s meow (or… dog’s bark?) when it comes to photography. I mean, just look at how handsome Ru looks in his spring tie. She really captured the candidness of his smoosh. ;)

More to come from Qiqi in near future dates, including a special little project I’m working on with Kayla from Love Lucy Girl. In the meantime, check out Qiqi’s website and Facebook page for Perception Matters.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

st.-Patricks-day-dogs-dressed-up-clothes-costume

I’m in the right spot for St. Patty’s Day! New Orleans knows how to do it right, naturally. People have already been up for hours drinking and roaming the streets of the French Quarter. The fam and I are planning on celebrating later and in the meantime, we’re checking out New Orleans’ famous Garden District.

I hope you are all out enjoying this lovely holiday, wearing your Sunday [green] best, drinking green beers, eating corn beef and cabbage, and generally having some good old-fashioned fun.

I’ve only seen a few pooches this morning, none of which were dressed up for St. Patrick’s Day. Hopefully that will change as the day goes on. If you happened to dress your pooch up in something green and festive, please do send us your photos. We’d love to see them and share them on Canines & Couture!

American Apparel Loves Canines in Hoodies

But really, who doesn’t love a cute pooch in a hoodie?! I’m not a huge fan of American Apparel as an expression of my own personal style. It’s a little too hipster for me, although, they do have some great basics…and by basics I mean hoodies, t-shirts, and tanks for your pups!

Chinese Crested @ Gott’s Roadside

The Chinese Crested is such an interesting looking pooch. I’ve encountered a few over the years, none of which warmed my heart but those who love the breed, LOVE the breed. This one is particularly cute in her little sweater at Gott’s on the Embarcadero.

xoxo,

Jules & Ru
