I had such an amazing mother-daughter weekend in Santa Rosa / Napa. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I did quite a bit of wine tasting and ate lots of delicious food. What you didn’t see (because I had absolutely zero phone service) was that I spent Sunday afternoon at Safari West.
Safari West, tucked away in the Santa Rosa hills, has the spirit of Africa in wine country’s backyard. We took a driven tour where I was photobombed by the most adorable giraffe (first photo!) and walked around the grounds, visiting with exotic birds, Tortoises, Monkeys and even Cheetahs! This last photo is of a giant bird’s nest. Isn’t that incredible?! The adorable, fuzzy grey bird is a baby flamingo. Did you know they’re not born pink? It takes them two years to reach their full pink potential (as a result of their diet rich in Beta-carotine).
I plan on making a trip to Africa some day to do the real deal but this was awfully fun in the interim. If you live in the San Francisco, Bay Area or are planning on visiting California in the near future, Safari West is a great spot to visit!
Have you ever been on a Safari?
